UAlbany Chamber Singers Perform at Carnegie Hall
ALBANY, N.Y. (June 24, 2026) — New York’s world-renowned Carnegie Hall has long represented a milestone for musicians. Its stages have welcomed performers ranging from Enrico Caruso, the world’s first global music superstar, to Oscar- and Grammy-winning artist Lady Gaga.
On June 20, 15 members of the University at Albany Chamber Singers added their voices to that history as part of the National Concert Chorus.
The students spent two days rehearsing under conductor Edith Copley, president of the American Choral Directors Association, before performing in Carnegie Hall’s Stern Auditorium/Perelman Stage.
The program included the world premiere of a work by composer Brandon Williams that was commissioned for the performance.
“Performing at Carnegie Hall is an experience these students will carry with them for the rest of their lives,” said Music Program Director Michael Lister, who directs the Chamber Singers. “They worked extremely hard to prepare for this residency, and I was proud to see them rise to the occasion while working with outstanding conductors, composers and singers.”
The participating students were Rox Aclin, Kayla Andrews, Parker Bohn, Isabella Cedo, Gabrielle Verchereau-Greco, Jared Lewis Holliday, Charlize Joseph, Trevor Layton, Jara Manatan, Benjamin Pasternack, David Pastuszka, Nina Scandurra, Joey Schiano, Jasper Thomas and Matthew Weissman.
Verchereau-Greco and recent graduate Manatan were selected through auditions to perform solos, marking their Carnegie Hall solo debuts.
