About

Tara Holmes is a lens-based artist and educator based in New York. Her practice sits at the intersection of technology, perception and human behavior, examining how digital systems condition attention, gesture and the body's relationship to the screen. Working across photography, video and sound, Holmes transforms fleeting screen-based imagery into tangible forms that invite critical reflection on how we see, consume and forget.

Holmes holds an MFA and MA in Lens-Based Media and Photography from the University at Albany, where she also earned a BA in Sociology. Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally, including at Baxter Street Gallery in New York City, the Center for Photography at Woodstock, Matèria Gallery in Rome, and the Bad Video Art Festival in Belgrade, Serbia.
