ALBANY, N.Y. (Apr. 1, 2026) — The University at Albany facilitated a working group with the University at Albany Alumni Association (UAAA), Student Association (SA), and University Auxiliary Services (UAS) — known as the UAlbany Partners — to develop a path forward for Camp Dippikill, located in Warrensburg, N. Y.

While the retreat will not open this year, representatives from the three organizations, which operate independently from the University, have all agreed that Dippikill should be reopened and made available to existing and future generations of the UAlbany community.

The UAlbany Partners also agreed that Dippikill should be reincorporated under a newly created 501(c)3 under UAS. All three partners are represented on the UAS board, giving them continued input and oversight into future operations.

The University shared its support for the proposal. UAlbany President Havidán Rodríguez said, “this agreement between the Student Association, Alumni Association and University Auxiliary Services is a major step in the right direction to ensure the long-term preservation of Dippikill. By coming together, these groups are safeguarding a treasured resource for generations of Great Danes while also reaffirming our shared commitment to student life, alumni engagement and the unique traditions that make UAlbany special.”

The group created a business plan with dedicated strategies to increase reservations, attendance and revenue, along with additional measures to offset annual costs and deficits.

The camp has been managed by the Student Association since the property was acquired in 1956. Reservations at the 1,000-square-foot wilderness retreat were suspended in October 2024 amid rising operating costs and declining student use and revenues.
