President’s Fellowship Program

The President’s Fellowship Program is a leadership development program for two full-time, undergraduate transfer students at the University at Albany. The Fellowship will provide mentoring, networking and leadership development opportunities for students interested in higher education.

About the Fellowship

Fellows have the unique opportunity to spend time with the President and their Chief of Staff in learning about leadership, higher education administration, strategic management, communication and collaboration, as well as participating in professional development events, spending time in the Office of the President assisting on select initiatives and focusing on an individual capstone project. Scholarship

Fellows will receive a $2,000 scholarship per semester for hours worked in the office of the President on select initiatives.

Fellowship Program Responsibilities

Fellows are expected to:

  • Spend one academic year in this program (roughly from September to April).
  • Actively participate in at least three university events with the President per semester.
  • Spend at least five hours per week in the Office of the President in addition to the time spent at events with the President, as well as the Chief of Staff.
  • Focus on a project of their choice, approved by the President, to be presented at the annual UAlbany Showcase.

Applicant Requirements

To be considered for the President’s Fellowship Program, applicants should meet the following requirements:

  • President’s Fellows will be transfer students who were previously enrolled at one of the University at Albany’s dual admissions partner campuses and who will be enrolled at the University at Albany for the fall.
  • Be a full-time undergraduate student at the University at Albany with junior standing (60 credit hours).
  • Have at least a 3.5 cumulative GPA at the time of application.
  • Have at least two more semesters of undergraduate education left at time of application.

How to Apply

Write a one-page letter of application addressing the following:

  • Goals and objectives by participating in this program.
  • Proposed idea/topic/research questions for the individual capstone project they would like to focus on while doing the fellowship.
