UAlbany Police Officers Honored by SUNY at 2025 University Police Awards

ALBANY, N.Y. (Dec. 11, 2025) — Four officers with the University at Albany Police Department (UPD) were recognized for their exemplary service to the community at the 2025 University Police Awards, hosted by the State University of New York (SUNY) Police Chiefs Association. The annual awards honor investigators, lieutenants, officers, staff and students for their devotion, bravery and unwavering commitment to campus safety.
- Lieutenant Michael Mabee, Investigator Daniel Vandeyar and Investigator Adam Pasnik received the Professional Service Award, which acknowledges individuals whose work significantly enhances the operations of their University Police Departments.
- Investigator Pasnik was also honored with the Heroism Award for his role in safely apprehending an armed suspect. The Heroism Award is presented to members who display extraordinary courage in situations involving serious personal risk or life-saving action.
- Officer Travis Gebo received the Life Saving Award for his quick response in locating and assisting an injured staff member while awaiting Emergency Services. Thanks to Officer Gebo's timely intervention, the staff member made a full recovery.

Their work contributes directly to the safety of our campus, and this recognition honors their efforts as well as the meaningful impact they have on the community we serve.”
