New Podcast Spotlights Short Talks on Big News and Big Ideas
ALBANY, N.Y. (Nov. 6, 2025) — This week, UAlbany is launching The Short Version: a new podcast featuring brief conversations about big ideas with the people who make our campus a fascinating place.
The Short Version is a weekly podcast from UAlbany's Office of Communications and Marketing featuring brief conversations with the makers, knowers and doers on campus. Look for new episodes every Wednesday on Simplecast, Spotify and Apple Podcasts.
Each episode will run about 10 minutes — roughly the time it takes to cross the Academic Podium. Because you’re interested in the world — but also have other things to do.
We start this week with a double feature from the Chemistry Department in the College of Arts and Sciences. Associate Professor Jeremy Feldblyum explained the groundbreaking discoveries that won UAlbany alum Omar M. Yaghi '85 the 2025 Nobel Prize and reflected on the role of obsession in excellent music and excellent science.
We also released a bonus episode —we’re calling them Extra Shorts —with Assistant Professor Michael Yeung, who took us into his world of spicy molecules, not-so-boring boron and rocket science.
But The Short Version isn’t just about research. We plan to feature interesting people and ideas from all corners of campus.
You can find us each week on Simplecast, Spotify and Apple Podcasts, or subscribe directly to the show’s RSS feed to be sure you don’t miss an episode.
New episodes will be released each Wednesday through Dec. 3, resuming weekly in mid-January with the spring semester.
That means we need ideas.
