UAlbany Symphony Orchestra, Concert Band Present Shared Performance
ALBANY, N.Y. (Sept. 28, 2021) — Two UAlbany Symphony Orchestra and the UAlbany Concert Band share the program in a concert set for 3 p.m. on Sunday Oct. 24 at the Performing Arts Center on the Uptown Campus.
The Concert Band, under the direction of Kevin Champagne, will perform Jerry Brubaker’s “The Complete Harry Potter,” which contains music from all eight Harry Potter movies. In addition, the band will perform a celebration of music and life with Claude Thomas Smith’s “Joyance”, Hungarian composer Joseph Kosma’s “Autumn Leaves” and Ballet Music from “Prince Igor” by Alexander Borodin.
The Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Christopher David Neubert, will perform Edvard Grieg’s “Holberg Suite”, a suite in five movements based on 18th century dance forms. Written in 1884, it was created to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the birth of Dano-Norwegian humanist playwright Ludvig Holberg.
The concert is presented by the Music Program of the University at Albany’s Department of Music and Theatre.
Advance tickets are $5 for the general public and $3 for students, seniors and UAlbany faculty-staff. Tickets purchased on the day of the show are $10 for the general public and $5 for students, seniors and UAlbany faculty-staff.
