Former Rochester CIO Lisa Bobo named CTG UAlbany Government Fellow
Former Rochester CIO Lisa Bobo, a leader in IT innovation, has been named a Government Fellow for CTG UAlbany.
ALBANY, N.Y. (Oct. 27, 2020) – Lisa Bobo, a seasoned executive with over 30 years of experience in a range of leadership roles in information technology innovation, has been named a Government Fellow for the Center for Technology in Government (CTG UAlbany) at the University at Albany.
Bobo, who recently retired after 7 years as Chief Information Officer for the City of Rochester, will work on key local government topics with particular focus on enterprise service architecture for municipal governments.
The CTG Government Fellows Program engages distinguished public service professionals in partnerships designed to further CTG UAlbany’s mission of fostering public sector innovation through our commitment to research practice partnerships. These professionals have expertise in government and deep knowledge about innovations in the use of information and information technology in the public sector. Government Fellows collaborate with CTG UAlbany on projects to generate new knowledge and to transfer it to the institute’s global network of partners and others through research and practice conferences, workshops, publications and the Web.

During her tenure in Rochester, Bobo led the city’s application for most Intelligent Community where the city was named in the top 21 globally. She has also been involved in a range of CTG UAlbany projects including co-founding, with CTG, the NYS City CIO work group, where for over 6 years CIOs from New York, Yonkers, Rochester, Syracuse, Plattsburgh, Albany, and Buffalo have convened to share knowledge and experiences and engage in joint problem solving.
She currently serves on the boards for the Foodlink Organization, Western NY Chapter of the Society of Information Management (SIM), and the NYS Local Government Records Archive Committee. Bobo also has served as the Vice President of the Metropolitan Information Exchange (MIX), a national government organization. She was chosen as the recipient of the 2018 Nien-Ling Wacker Visionary Award and was a finalist for the Rochester Great Awards. In 2019, Bobo received the Key to the City of Rochester for distinguished service.
Bobo is currently the Chief Executive Officer and Owner of Bolder IT Strategies, LLC providing Senior Advisory Services to government and private industry. Through this role, Bobo finds ways to foster collaboration and innovation and is energized by the ability to connect people, ideas, and resources so that government and industry continue to meet the changing needs of society.
