Research areas: Early modern European intellectual and cultural history, Greek and Latin humanists in fifteenth-century Italy

Professor Monfasani is an historian specializing in Renaissance Europe, with a special interest in humanism, philosophy, and theology. For fifteen years the Executive Director of the Renaissance Society of America, he has written over fifteen books and eighty articles. He is presently working on a multi-volume study of the Plato-Aristotle controversy of the fifteenth century.
