Research Interests
My current research focus is determining a method of applying an aesthetic system based on Maya culture to art objects from Pre-Columbian Meso America.  This would extend both to the manner in which these objects would be displayed in a museum setting, as well as in regards to the dissemination of knowledge about these cultural groups in a manner that does not describe or approach Meso American Pre-Columbian societies as being subordinate cultures to Westernized societies.  In order to do this, I am building off research I undertook as an undergraduate, and further developing the thesis I wrote to incorporate elements of aesthetic evaluation, museum presentation, and curatorial practices that have lead to the contemporary state of Meso American art objects in the Western museum, and how this social interpretation effects the cultural perception of these cultural groups.
