STI Testing

UAlbany SHS provides confidential appointments for screening, diagnosis and treatment of STI’s. Please call SHS at 518-442-5229 or go online to schedule an appointment.

The Center of Disease Control (CDC) recommends the following screenings:
• all adults and adolescents from ages 13-64 should be tested at least once for HIV
• all sexually active women younger than 25 years should be tested for gonorrhea and chlamydia every year
• all sexually active gay and bisexual men should be tested at least once a year for syphilis, chlamydia and gonorrhea
(you can learn more about the CDC recommendations on STI testing here: Which STD Tests Should I Get? | Prevention | STDs | CDC)

SHS offers:
• Routine STI screening tests (Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, Syphilis, Herpes and HIV utilizing an outside lab)
• STI screening tests if you think you may have been exposed to an STI or have any symptoms
• STI treatment (most medication is available from SHS Pharmacy)
• Rapid HIV test for a $10 charge to your student account. The charge will be listed as Health Services.

Please remember to bring your insurance information to your appointment.

STI testing is confidential. That means no one, except authorized SHS and local Department of Health personnel, has access to your STI results.
We cannot share your information with partners, parents, guardians, teachers or employers.
