About

Professional Interests 

Dr. Heslin Pokat enjoys working with students from a diverse range of backgrounds on all sorts of concerns such as adjustment to major life transitions and change; peer, family and significant other relationship issues; evolving more satisfying and healthy lifestyles; and coping with grief and loss. She has a particular interest in group therapy and views it as a wonderful way for students to become more effective at relating, more comfortable and confident with themselves and more connected with others 

Approach to Therapy 

Dr. Heslin Pokat’s approach to therapy can best be described as Integrative. She draws upon several different theoretical approaches including Interpersonal Process, Psychodynamic, Systems/Family Dynamics, Cognitive-Behavioral, Mindfulness, Existential, Feminist and Relational Cultural. 

Approach to Wellness 

Dr. Heslin Pokat engages in yoga, running, kayaking, cycling and hiking in the great outdoors. She also enjoys spending time with family and friends.
