About

Professional Interests

Dave loves working with different ranges of age groups from younger adults to older adults. He has many experiences providing therapy to clients who present with anxiety, depression, other mood disorders, ADHD, traumatic experiences, OCD, grief and loss, career concerns, issues in relationships and substance use. He also has worked with couples for several years. Dave is particularly interested in working with people who struggle with addictive behaviors including behavioral (smart phone, internet and gambling) and substance use.

Approach to Therapy

Dave believes that feeling genuinely connected to at least one supportive person can lower the risk of experiencing a crisis and help people choose safety. He strives to be that one person in his work with clients. Dave takes an integrative approach to therapy. Person-centered approach guides the foundational relationship with clients and he incorporates psychodynamic approach to understand the clients better by looking at patterns shaped by early relationships. He integrates cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) to provide concrete tools clients can use in daily life. Most importantly, Dave is open and flexible in learning new things or working in many different ways.

Approach to Wellness

Dave loves spending time with his family and friends. In his free time, he enjoys playing clarinet or watching K-drama or Korean shows on Netflix.
