Office Composting Project

The Office of Sustainability offers kitchen-sized compost pails for offices upon request. Learn how you can integrate composting into your daily office operations.

Sustainability Coordinators

The Sustainability Coordinators program offers university employees the opportunity to work with the Office of Environmental Sustainability on the “Green Scene” initiatives. Coordinators meet monthly to discuss university-wide sustainability programs and give feedback to the director. If you would like to join the group, please contact the office at

Sustainability Innovation Grant Program

Members of the UAlbany community are invited to submit proposals for innovative academic endeavors or professional development opportunities that promote the core principles of sustainability including environmental stewardship, economic and resource equity, and societal community building. Funding is for a one time allocation and will range in size up to a maximum of $1,000. Read more about the Sustainability Innovation Grant Program.

The Terras

The Office of Sustainability has established a new award to recognize the persistent efforts of campus community members.  Each semester, one faculty member, one staff member and one student will each be awarded with a Terra for demonstrating a commitment to advancing sustainable culture at UAlbany.
