The Alex Sabo Mentoring Scholarship has allowed freshman Jenna Tarbell to “come to a great school and not have huge debt.” The environmental sciences major is passionate about her classes. She particularly enjoyed her freshman seminar on storms and weather. “I found it very interesting and I enjoy learning about how climates have changed,” she says.
Tarbell is still thinking about what career she would like to pursue after graduation but know she wants to return to her hometown to work on environmental issues there. In her spare time, she is a member of the ultimate Frisbee team and mixed martial arts club. She hopes to repay her scholarship donor’s generosity by someday establishing one of her own and helping another student like her get to UAlbany.
