Junior Dominick Almeida hopes to pursue a career in cancer research or NMR research in a biology lab. He is currently enrolled in the 5 year combined BS/MS degree program in chemistry. Receiving the Morris and Rita Deutsch Scholarship has been a huge help in financing his education. “It’s awesome,” the Montgomery, NY native says. Almeida puts the assistance provided by his scholarship toward purchasing textbooks for his classes.
When he is not studying or in the lab for his rigorous coursework, Almeida enjoys exploring the Capital Region’s restaurants with friends. He is also taking classes outside of his chemistry major, such as Buddhism and French, which stretch him intellectually. His favorite spot on campus is the bench overlooking Indian Pond, where he often goes at night to look at the stars.
After graduation he plans to stay involved with UAlbany and give back some of the generosity he benefitted from through campus service projects.
