Directed by Prof. Youqin Huang, Confucius Institute at University at Albany (CI) provides support and service in Chinese language instruction and culture programming, promotes China-related research, and facilitates academic exchanges and collaborations between UAlbany and its partner university in China -- Southwestern University of Finance and Economics in Chengdu. Established in December of 2013, CI offers educational activities to not only the university population but also the large community in the Capital District. In addition to partners on campus such as Department of East Asian Studies, Center for International Education and Global Strategy, Rockefeller College of Public Affairs & Policy, Urban China Research Network and Chinese Students and Scholar Association, CI partners with local public libraries, schools, and organizations such as Clarkson University, Albany High School, Edmund J. O'Neal Middle School of Excellence; Tech Valley High School; Montessori Magnet School in Albany, Chinese Community Center, Albany Pine Hill Library, Colonie Public Library, Guilderland Public Library, Albany Institute of History and Art and Chinese Martial Arts Academy.
