CV

Michael Sattinger is professor of economics at the University at Albany, SUNY. Early work concerned how workers were assigned to jobs on the basis of comparative advantage and preferences. Further work considered how search assigns workers to jobs, generating inequality, unemployment and mismatches. Later work showed how optimal income taxation can be determined using double-limit analysis, and how it affects inequality in after-tax income. He teaches labor economics and the distribution of income at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
