Public Health Certificate Programs

Public Health Nurse Ready (PHN Ready) is an online certificate program for RNs working in public health, or desiring to know about how public health works. LPNs and other RNs may find the certificate of interest as well.

Foundations of Public Health is a basic introductory certificate that provides foundational knowledge for public health workers with limited formal education or training in public health. It does not offer academic credit.

All courses are self-paced and on-line, with most courses providing continuing education credits.

The courses in this certificate provide a foundation of core public health concepts and practices. Topics include: cultural competency, public health literacy, program evaluation, basic epidemiology, core functions and essential services of public health. These courses reflect the core public health competencies set forth by the Council of Public Health Nursing Organizations.

To earn the PHN Ready Certificate:

  1. Download the course tracking sheet.
  2. Create an account at phtc-online.org, enroll and complete all of the required courses.
  3. Once you have finished all required coursework, you must complete the "PHN Ready Request for Certificate" certificate request survey.

The Advancing Cultural Competence (ACC) Certificate provides cutting-edge continuing education through free, self-paced, online courses.
Target Audience: The certificate is designed for health professionals, but is open to anyone.
