Overview

HPV vaccination rates are currently low in New York State and across the country. Early HPV vaccine conversations that focus on HPV related cancer prevention have been shown to be more likely to result in HPV vaccine acceptance. Healthcare providers are a vital, trusted source of information for patient’s when it comes to immunizations. This webinar will review the current state of HPV disease and vaccine recommendations and explain ways to tailor communication strategies to patients and communities.

Target Audience

Physicians, physician assistants, nurses, nurse practitioners, and other medical providers who counsel adolescents/pre-adolescents and their parents about vaccinations.

Learning Outcome and Objectives

As a result of this educational activity, the learner will have increased and enhanced knowledge and competence on communicating with patients and communities about the HPV vaccine.  

By the end of the webcast, viewers will be able to: 

•    Explain the benefits of HPV vaccination for cancer prevention.
•    Describe techniques for talking with parents or patients about HPV vaccine 
•    Summarize strategies public health professionals and healthcare providers can utilize to communicate HPV vaccine information to individuals, their organizations and to the community at large.
