2021 Breastfeeding Disparities Qualitative Research Study Findings Webinar

Overview

A study was conducted in 2021 by the University at Albany School of Public Health in collaboration with the New York State Department of Health’s (NYSDOH) Bureau of Community Chronic Disease Prevention and Division of Chronic Disease Prevention to learn more about statewide and regional racial and ethnic disparities in breastfeeding. This webinar will present the findings from this study. The study was approved by the University at Albany’s Institutional Review Board (IRB Protocol: 21X130).

As a result of participation in this activity, the learners will increase and enhance their knowledge and competence on strategies to address breastfeeding disparities in NYS. 

By the end of the webinar, viewers will be able to: 

  • Identify populations most likely to experience breastfeeding disparities in NYS. 
  • List key facilitators to breastfeeding success especially among racial and ethnic minorities and populations with low breastfeeding rates. 
  • List barriers to breastfeeding success especially among racial and ethnic minorities and populations with low breastfeeding rates. 
  • Identify recommended strategies to address breastfeeding disparities based on the findings from the 2021 Breastfeeding Disparities Research Study.
