A Community Celebration of Environmental Social Governance
The inaugural ESG symposium will discuss how businesses integrate environmental social governance into their strategies and operations. The event will conclude with the presentation of the 2021 High Peaks Impact Awards.
The conference will be held Friday, October 15, 2021 from 1:00pm - 6:00pm in the Massry Center for Business.
O’Leary Professor Emeritus Paul Miesing, the founding director of the The Center for the Advancement & Understanding of Social Enterprises has been involved in ESG for some time and has long looked forward to planning a conference on the subject.
He said, “Five years ago, I was trying to find data around to show that being socially responsible was a successful strategy, and lo and behold I stumbled across ESG.
Since then, it’s become enormously popular, but at its core it’s still what remains important to all business decisions: being transparent, honest, and open; retaining social legitimacy to operate; achieving resiliency by better managing risks; and providing material information to investors, governments, and the public."
Four panels of experts will discuss the complexity and criticisms of ESG: measurement and reporting, ESG portfolio, implementing ESG and trends driving the future of ESG.
