About
Daniel Gremmler has taught courses in English, Classics and Art History at the University at Albany since 2002.
His research revolves around narrative art in the Classical World, relying primarily on Functional and Comparative approaches. The reciprocal relationship between art and culture in the ancient and modern worlds are of particular interest.
He has contributed to introductory texts on Greco-Roman epic in The Bedside Baccalaureate Volume 1 (2008) and Volume 2 (2009) and authored a comparative literature analysis between Greek epic, tragedy and Hollywood westerns in Americanization of History: Conflations of Time and Culture in Film and Television (2012).
Daniel maintains AgeofHeroes.org, an introductory website to the study of art and myth in the Classical World, featuring public domain and Creative Commons licensed art that can be freely shared with attributions.
