About
I graduated with my PhD in 2022 and specialize in Ancient Greek Philosophy.
Professor Powers's Aristotle seminar dedicated to Aristotle's On the Heavens was a particular highlight. The texts were a fun application of Aristotle's overall philosophical approach, and the material led to some fun conversations with classmates.
The happiness seminar co-taught by Professors McClamrock and Steinbock was also a memorable one-both for its connection to my interest in Aristotle and for the interdisciplinary nature of the readings. I also find myself returning to topics covered in Prof. Magnus's Philosophy of Science seminar periodically in my teaching.
In my current position, most of my time is devoted to my teaching, as well as a workforce project related to developing skills for young professionals in the liberal arts and humanities. I am also currently pursuing a research project on the Aristotelian social virtue of friendliness.
I think doing my PhD At UAlbany did an excellent job of preparing me for teaching. In my own teaching, I've used a variety of techniques that I picked up as a teaching assistant. The opportunities to attend seminars through the Institute for Teaching, Learning, and Academic Leadership (ITLAL) were also helpful in preparing for my role here at Northern Virginia Community College.
