Overview
Anthropic is seeking practical solutions that benefit workers, businesses, and the public sector adapt to the changes created by AI. This is not about theoretical research. They want large-scale studies and ambitious pilot programs that test real-world policies and programs, measure their impact, and share ideas that guide decision makers. Reducing harms from AI disruption and finding approaches that help workers navigate change are the ultimate goal of the project. See more in the project's Research Agenda.
There is a specific interest in projects that partner with state, local, or federal government, and are large enough to "detect policy-relevant effects" that inform policy design.
Important Information
Not eligible:
- Research focused primarily on AI safety or governance
- Product or platform development, engineering work, or AI capability research
- Lit. reviews or papers without primary empirical research
- Curriculum development
Review criteria will focus on research design, implementation feasibility, ambition, and timeliness.

Process
This is a single step application process.
Interested parties should immediately complete the SPA Proposal Request Form to be assigned a research administrator.
The application will be managed by SPA, and you will work with your assigned research administrator.
