Alumni Feature: Sarah Ryan
November is Homelessness Awareness Month. Alumna Sarah Ryan has worked in homeless services over the past three years at St. Catherine’s, where she is now a supervisor for the Pathways to Health outreach team. Using the social determinants of health, the Pathways team targets housing and food insecurity and works to ensure appropriate access to the health care system. Using this model, the team aims to reduce health disparities among low or no-income individuals in the community.
School of Social Welfare Receives Award from Spina Bifida Association
The School of Social Welfare received the Spina Bifida Association of New York State’s 2022 “You Make a Difference Award", which recognized the outstanding service of SSW student interns.
UAlbany Launches Massive Artificial Intelligence Cluster Hire of 27 Faculty
The University at Albany will add an unprecedented 27 new faculty members specializing in artificial intelligence in the coming months, marking the next critical phase in the University’s ambitious plan to incorporate elements of AI teaching and research across all academic programs. The 27 new hires — the largest cluster hire in the University’s history — are among 49 new faculty members expected to join UAlbany next year and will help lay the foundation for the University’s new AI academy.

UAlbany hosted its first Inventors Recognition Ceremony at ETEC, honoring faculty, students and staff who have submitted their first invention disclosure, their first patent application, or have been granted their first patent by the United States Patent and Trademark Office from 2019 through 2022.
