Policy Purpose

To set forth the commitment and compliance of the University at Albany to the principles of State University of New York policy 6501 entitled Discrimination Complaint Procedure for Non-Title IX Discrimination and Title IX Discrimination (including Title IX sex-based harassment involving employee respondents) on all University at Albany Campuses.

Policy Statement

The University, as an institution of the State University of New York system, is required to comply with all policies as promulgated by SUNY unless such policy allows for or requires a separate policy on the issue at hand be adopted by an individual institution of SUNY.  With regard to SUNY policy 6501 Discrimination Complaint Procedure for Non-Title IX Discrimination and Title IX Discrimination (including Title IX sex-based harassment involving employee respondents), such policy does not allow for a separate policy by individual institutions of SUNY and therefore the University adopts and will enforce SUNY Policy 6501 as written.

Definitions

Campus or Campuses is any University owned, leased, licensed or operated space, facility, property, grounds or building.

SUNY is the State University of New York.

University is the University at Albany, SUNY.

Policy

The University adopts and will comply with all aspects of SUNY policy 6501 Discrimination Complaint Procedure for Non-Title IX Discrimination and Title IX Discrimination (including Title IX sex-based harassment involving employee respondents) as written and in accordance with the procedures promulgated under this policy.

Procedures

A. University’s Discrimination Administrator (DCA)

  1. The University’s DCA is Samuel Caldwell, Vice President for Inclusive Excellence, Chief Diversity Officer and Title VI Coordinator.

B. Reporting Discrimination

  1. All incidents of bias, hate, discrimination, and harassment should be reported through the University’s online reporting form by selecting the specific category as appropriate for the nature of the report.
