Overview
The first Humanity AI open call is designed to support community-led efforts that shape how AI is built, governed, and used. They are not looking to advance the technology. They want ideas that give communities, workers, educators, and other stakeholders a leading role in determining AI's societal impact.
Priority focus areas include education; labor and economy; and humanities, arts, and culture, with goals such as promoting public-interest approaches to AI development and deployment, challenges to uses of AI that may cause harm to communities, and systems that work on terms defined by communities.
Successful projects will provide the people most affected by AI with agency over its direction, use, and oversight. Additionally, community-led, rather than expert-led projects and those that involve populations that have historically has limited influence with AI are preferred.
