Overview

Sony's Research Award Program offers two opportunities to engage in sponsored research:

Faculty Innovation Award - to conduct pioneering research in the areas related to the below topics, with an extensive list of keywords:

Focused Research Award - to conduct research related to designated themes, such as:

• Internal Mechanisms of Multimodal Gen. Models for Content Creation
• Anime-Style Expression Exaggeration

• Psychology-Informed User Modeling and Intervention Design for Content Streaming Experiences

• AI-Based Digital Human Content Creation for Sports Science and Sport Entertainment
• Provenance Proofs for AI-Generated Derivative Content
• Long-Term Memory for Sequential Decision-Making in Game Video Understanding

Important Information

This is sponsored research with a for-profit entity.

No indirect costs are permitted and funder requires at least three quarterly reports, a final research summary, and responses to a progress questionnaire.

If you are considering an application in which you are the Principal Investigator, please ensure you meet PI eligibility requirements.

Process

This is a single step application process:

Fill out the Sponsored Programs Administration's Proposal Request Form to be assigned a research administrator.

The application will be managed by SPA, and you will work with your assigned research administrator.

All required information, in final form, needs to be submitted to SPA no later than five business days before submission deadline.
