Overview

Funder seeks to support research, policy work, and implementation projects that help global health and economic systems adapt to the potentially transformative impact of AI, especially in low- and middle-income countries.

Examples include: research on how global health grantmaking should respond to advances in AI, a technical assistance program to make emerging economies more robust to AI labor market disruption, or efforts to build clinical trial and regulatory infrastructure in low/middle income countries before AI-enabled treatments outpace the systems meant to deliver them.

Funder has categories of the types of grants they are looking to fund:

  • Exploratory- less than $100,000 for research and writing projects, scoping studies, prototypes of potential future work, and short-form policy work
  • Standard- $100,000 to $1M for New hires at an existing organization, larger research programs, or launching a small (1-3 person) organization.
  • Large- $1M - $10M for larger new organizations, institutional capacity-building, substantive policy engagement, or more complicated preparatory infrastructure.

Important Information

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis until the deadline so it may be advantageous to get your application in earlier.

Funder is especially excited by the prospect of seeding new organizations and supporting direct implementation.

Coefficient Giving's policy on indirect costs indicates maximum 10% allowed.

If you are considering an application in which you are the Principal Investigator, please ensure you meet PI eligibility requirements.

Process

This is a two-step application process.

  • The Letter of Intent (LOI/step 1) is managed by the Office of Corporate and Foundation Relations.

  • Submit the completed LOI worksheet no later than Aug. 21. (Rolling deadline until that date.)
    If invited to submit a full proposal (step 2), it will be managed by the Sponsored Programs Administration (SPA).
