Full Expression of Intent (EOI)

Overview

The Virtual Institute for the Carbon Cycle (VICC) aims to reduce uncertainty in the global carbon cycle by an order of magnitude in order to inform effective climate policy and solutions.
This funding opportunity from Schmidt Sciences seeks multidisciplinary, international research teams to propose ambitious projects that significantly reduce uncertainty in the global carbon cycle and improve predictions relevant to climate policy.
Starting with an Expression of Intent (EOI), which needs to be formed about one or more of the three main themes mentioned in the EOI document, the program aims to fund several large-scale projects focused on advancing understanding of carbon emissions, sinks, and future climate feedbacks using approaches such as modeling, observations, and data integration. Selected teams will collaborate within a broader global research network and contribute open data and insights to support more accurate, policy-relevant climate science.
