UAlbany’s Intensive English Language Program

The University at Albany’s Intensive English Language Program (IELP) is designed for international students who want to improve their English language skills.

Students take a placement test and enroll in either an eight- or four-week session to achieve their desired English language level. Conditional admission to UAlbany degree programs is available.

Get Settled

Obtain & Maintain Student Status: Apply for a student visa. Maintain your student status.

Life at UAlbany & in the U.S.: Plan your travel to UAlbany and secure your housing. Access campus resources, safety information, cultural resources and other helpful guidance.

International Insurance: Enroll in the University’s health insurance plan, which is mandatory for all international students.

F-2 & J-2 Dependents: Bring your spouse and/or children with you to the U.S.
