American Diabetes Association: Pathway to Stop Diabetes
The are two categories in Pathway to Stop Diabetes:
- Accelerator: Up to five years, up to $325,000 for a maximum of $1.625 Million
- Initiator: Up to two years, up to $100,000 in Phase One with possible Phase Two

Important Information
This is a limited solicitation opportunity in which UAlbany can only submit two nominations per grant cycle.
One nomination must be focused on basic science/preclinical research, while the other must be focused on translational science.
Each nomination can be for either of the Pathway Program Award types (Accelerator or Initiator).
Process
Interested faculty should submit a one-page outline (an indication of interest to apply) by May 1, 2026, to Associate Vice President of Research and limited solicitation coordinator Satyen Kumar at [email protected] that includes the following:
- Which award you are applying for
- Proposed project and budget
- How it answers the call for nominations
The selected applicants will proceed with the Sponsored Programs Administration, which has a deadline of May 12, 2026, and would require this proposal request form.
