Strategic Priorities for the Self-study Process

A Synthesis of Goals and Values

UAlbany has a well established, inclusively created and recently updated Strategic Plan that guides us every day and that is the inspiration for the institutional strategic priorities that will be the framework of our Self-study.

Our Self-study strategic priorities were developed through a collaborative process with the Self-study Steering Committee and University leadership.

These priorities reflect a synthesis of the five pillars of our strategic plan, our values and our institutional mission. Collectively, they will guide our Self-study process.

Priority 1: Access, Empowerment and Lifetime Achievement

This priority reflects our mission-driven commitment to being the nation’s leading student-ready, public R1 University providing our diverse student body educational opportunities that enable social mobility and empower lifelong achievement.

We are dedicated to providing access to learning, research and service regardless of economic, societal or physical factors.

Priority 2: Inclusive Excellence

This priority reflects our strong and unwavering commitment to being the nation’s preeminent model for embracing diversity, equity and inclusive excellence in all facets of University life.

We value diversity of all forms, academic freedom, and the rights, dignity and perspectives of all individuals.

Priority 3: Community Good

This priority reflects our determination to work collectively and collaboratively to build transformational partnerships that strengthen the University and our local, national and global communities.

We are dedicated to social and environmental justice and to creating a sustainable way of life on Earth for all. We are committed to internationalization by infusing international perspectives across research, teaching, learning and service to promote the global common good.

Priority 4: Integrity

This priority reflects our expectations of honesty, transparency and accountability from every member of our campus in all aspects of educational and scholarly pursuit.
