Voya Scholars for Mental Health

The Voya Scholars for Mental Health program—offered through a partnership between the Voya Foundation and SUNY—will award five $10,000 scholarships to undergraduate students committed to entering mental health professions. The deadline for submission, which students do on their own, is March 12.

About the Scholarship

The program goal is to expand access to mental health careers by reducing financial barriers for students preparing for professions that make a meaningful impact in our communities. Scholarship recipients will be selected based on both financial need and academic merit, with awards disbursed as a one-time payment.

The applicant will be asked to provide transcripts, recommendation letters, household tax information, work history, and both short- and long-form essay responses.

Students must be enrolled for the fall 2026 semester and pursuing a four-year undergraduate degree in:
 

Psychology
Social Work
Psychiatric Nursing

Able to demonstrate a clear interest in pursuing a mental health career (addressed through required application essays)
