Volunteer

We want you!

Lend your support in creative, personally meaningful ways that will inspire and shape the future of this great University. There are a myriad of ways you can give back to your alma mater

Admissions Ambassadors

Our Admissions Ambassador program is a collaboration between the UAlbany Alumni Association and the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. Alumni are provided opportunities to volunteer in their geographic areas, represent UAlbany as ambassadors and help to recruit the brightest and the best students. Share your positive UAlbany experience with future Great Danes!

College Fairs

College fairs are events organized by high schools in different geographical areas where colleges and universities are represented by Admissions representatives or alumni volunteers. Prospective students and their parents attend these college fairs to seek information about the educational institutions represented, their programs, application and admissions process, programs and courses of study, etc. These college fairs are held September through November and March through May.

As a college fair volunteer, you will:

  • Help recruit the best students for UAlbany
  • Meet and speak to students and their families
  • Share your college experience or insight on what it means to be a UAlbany graduate
  • Answer questions and hand out UAlbany materials from the Admissions office
  • Shadow an Admissions representative in your area to learn how college fairs are done

Accepted Student Receptions

Held in the spring, these events are offered by the Admissions Office with sponsorship by the Alumni Association. Receptions are held in certain demographic areas, at a home or a public venue to encourage students to attend the UAlbany. When you attend accepted student receptions hosted by the Admissions office, you'll meet students and their families and lend a personal touch to the event by sharing your own personal campus experience and connection to UAlbany.

Postcard Project
Postcard Project

To support the University's enrollment and recruitment efforts, alumni are invited to write handwritten postcards to prospective Great Danes accepted through the University's Early Action Program. We'll provide the materials and postage – all you have to do is write your message and drop postcards in the mail. Help prospective students make their decision to join the ever-growing Great Dane family! Volunteers are recruited for the Postcard Project late December through mid-January.

Sign up for the Postcard Project by January 16, 2026.
