The President’s Forum on Health Disparities, “Behind the Label: Consumer Product Chemicals & Our Health."

On September 25, 2026, the University at Albany hosted the President’s Forum on Health Disparities, “Behind the Label: Consumer Product Chemicals & Our Health." The forum was hosted by the Center for the Elimination of Health Disparities (CEHD), College of Integrated Health Sciences (CIHS) and Maternal and Child Health Promotion (MCHP) and brought together researchers, community members and health leaders to examine consumer-product chemical exposures and their implications for public health and health disparities.

Keynote speaker Dr. Tamarra James-Todd, professor of environmental and reproductive epidemiology at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, highlighted how routine use of personal-care products, including: lotions, fragrances, hair products and cosmetics, can contribute to repeated chemical exposures.
