About
Omer F. Keskin is an Assistant Professor in the Cybersecurity Department at the College of Emergency Preparedness, Homeland Security, and Cybersecurity at the University at Albany, SUNY. He directs the Cyber Resilient Interdependent Systems and Infrastructure Solutions (CRISIS) Lab and holds a PhD in Systems Engineering from Old Dominion University, with additional training in digital forensics and cybersecurity.
Dr. Keskin’s research centers on cyber risk quantification, critical infrastructure protection, third-party risk, cyber insurance, and cybersecurity for cyber-physical systems. His recent work explores systematic cyber threat modeling for maritime and water systems, and he actively develops methodologies to support decision-making in catastrophic cyber risk management.
He has published in journals such as Computers & Security, Business Horizons, and International Journal of Critical Infrastructures, and he frequently presents and hosts sessions at international conferences, including the Society for Risk Analysis Annual Meeting. Dr. Keskin is also recognized for his mentorship of undergraduate and graduate students and was honored with the college’s 2024 Teaching Excellence in Cybersecurity Award.
