Art History Professor Michael Werner Receives International Award

On December 10, 2019, the City of Sremska Mitrovica in Serbia awarded Professor Michael Werner of the Art and Art History Department at the University at Albany the “Plaque of Honor for his many years of contribution to research on, presentation and promotion of the Roman legacy of Sirmium and the cultural heritage of the City of Sremska Mitrovica,” in particular the Roman Imperial Palace on this ancient site.  During the years that Professor Werner was engaged in this international work, several University at Albany Art History majors pursued summer internships at the site, preserving ancient Roman mosaics.
