About

Peter Finn is a Public Service Professor of Public Administration, with a specialization in public service financial management. He previously served Deputy Commissioner for Finance and Administration with the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation from 2007 to 2011. Prior to that, he served as the agency's finance director and chief information officer. Pete began his career with State Parks as a public management intern in 1978.

Pete also serves as the treasurer of the New York State Recreation and Park Society and is financial management subject matter expert for the National Recreation and Park Association national program committee. He previously served as a board member for the National Association of State Outdoor Recreation Officers and is currently a coordinating member of the steering committee for the America's State Parks Foundation. Pete is a fellow and member of the board of the New York State Academy for Public Administration. Pete received a Master's of Public Administration from Rockefeller College of Public Affairs and Policy, University at Albany, in 1977 and earned undergraduate degrees in biology and forestry from the State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry and Syracuse University. He was honored to receive the Distinguished Alumnus in Public Administration award from Rockefeller College in 2010.
