About

I am a post-doctoral fellow in the lab of Dr Andy Berglund at the RNA Institute, University at Albany. I received my Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences and Synthetic Organic Chemistry from University College London in 2014. In 2017 I completed my PhD in the College of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine at The University of Edinburgh, under the mentorship of Professor Tom Gillingwater. My PhD research centered on understanding the role of UBA1 in the pathogenesis of Spinal Muscular Atrophy. My subsequent post-doctoral research with Dr. Laura Ranum at the University of Florida focused on repeat-associated non-ATG translation in spinocerebellar ataxia type 8. After joining the Berglund lab in February 2020, my research has focused on small molecule screens and therapy development for CAG repeat expansion diseases, including multiple types of spinocerebellar ataxia.
