Academic Advising
Academic Advising supports online student success from orientation through graduation, helping you achieve your educational goals, improve your academic performance, and connect you to resources and opportunities at UAlbany. You will have a dedicated advisor throughout your college career. In addition, you will have a departmental advisor once you declare a major.
Your Online Academic Advisor can help you:
- Discuss your academic and career goals
- Understand graduation requirements and other policies and procedures
- Navigate the course registration process
- Learn more about our pre-professional programs, four-year plans and academic resources for student success
- Declare or change a major or minor
- Improve academic standing for students on academic probation

Career Advising
The Office of Career and Professional Development is dedicated to supporting students through their academic and professional journey. As a University at Albany student, you will have access to the following services:

Student Health & Well-being

Tutoring
The Writing Center serves all UAlbany undergraduate and graduate students, regardless of their program of study. Peer tutors can help with all types of writing projects and concerns, and virtual (Zoom) appointments are available.
All UAlbany undergraduate students also have free access to free, 24/7 online tutoring services. This resource allows students to connect with a live tutor for subject-specific assistance or submit writing assignments to the Writing Lab for feedback.
Bookstore
AcaDamien's Bookstore offers a range of options for purchasing course materials, including new, used, digital and rental versions, depending on the textbook. They also carry merchandise, school supplies, regular books and magazines. Online orders are accepted.
University Libraries
The University Libraries provide facilities, resources and services that support learning, research, reflection and rest. The Libraries offer a wide array of online resources and services, including books, media, databases, reference sources, subject guides, interlibrary loans and webinars.
Financial Aid & Student Accounts

Code of Conduct
Community Standards administers the UAlbany student code of conduct, called Community Rights & Responsibilities, and ensures students understand how to uphold those principles.
If a student violates the code of conduct and is referred to Community Standards, they will meet with the student to explain the University’s student conduct procedures and how they can repair the breach.
Community Standards is also available to speak with students and their families on various issues, such as questions related to the conduct process or requests for help with conflict resolution.
Brightspace & Technical Support
UAlbany students have access to 24/7 support directly from Brightspace including live chat, phone and email. To access help, log into Brightspace and click on the chat icon on the bottom right of your screen.
ITS supports and manages all campus software and hardware, so their staff can help you troubleshoot issues or access the technology you need.
