Overview
These grants support basic research in neurobiology, with an emphasis on understanding the fundamental mechanisms of neural function in both vertebrates and invertebrates. The Whitehall Foundation funds projects exploring sensory, motor, and complex behavioral processes, but excludes disease-focused or applied research unless it directly informs normal neural functioning.
Important Information
For Research grants, these are not for those who have already received, or expect to receive, substantial support from other sources, even if it is for an unrelated purpose.
For the Grants-in-Aid program, it is for early-career investigators.
Process
This is a two-step application process:
The Letter of Intent (LOI/step 1) is managed by the Office of Corporate and Foundation Relations. If you would like to apply, email [email protected] for more details and an LOI worksheet. Submit the completed LOI worksheet by 12.19.25
If invited to submit a full proposal (step 2), it will be managed by the Office of Sponsored Programs.
