This funding opportunity calls for transformative solutions that expand access to affordable homeownership across the U.S. The program seeks creative ideas that address rising housing costs, supply shortages, and information gaps—especially those that improve housing counseling, consumer education, and scalable for-sale housing production.
Examples of research areas are:
- Information Gaps and Consumer Education - develop and test tools that help consumers assess homeownership readiness.
- Supply and Demand Analysis - study housing supply challenges and identify scalable models for for-sale housing production.
- System-Level Solutions - policy interventions that reduce systemic barriers to homeownership.
- Technology and Data Innovation - explore digital platforms that provide real-time, accessible tools for consumers and housing providers.
Important Information
Prospective grantees must register to apply NO LATER THAN 12-17-25 and, if chosen, will apply in January. Up to 10 finalists will receive $200,000 each in project development support, and five awardees will later receive funding from a $4.6 million allocation to implement their solution.
Process
This is a single step application process.
- Interested parties should immediately complete the Office of Sponsored Programs Research Request Form ASAP to be assigned a research administrator.
- The application will be managed by the Office of Sponsored Programs, and you will work with your assigned research administrator.
- All required information, in final form, needs to be submitted to OSP no later than 1-21-26, which is five business days before submission deadline.
