Overview

This limited submission program recognizes and supports early-career faculty who demonstrate exceptional promise as researchers/educators in the chemical sciences. The Foundation is looking for those who combine scholarly excellence with a strong commitment to teaching and mentoring, and who have significant contributions to advancing chemical knowledge. Faculty should demonstrate originality, leadership potential, and the ability to integrate research and education in ways that benefit all who learn within their discipline. The award is restricted to individuals whose primary work falls within the chemical sciences, including chemistry, biochemistry, materials chemistry, and chemical engineering.

Important Information

The applicant will hold a full-time tenure-track appointment in the chemical sciences and be within the first six years of the start of their tenure-track career at the time of nomination. The program emphasizes originality and leadership potential in research and teaching, and nominees should demonstrate a strong integration of these two areas. The $100,000 is awarded as an unrestricted research award and does not require a budget. Indirects are not permitted.

Process

Interested faculty should submit a one-page outline by 12-17-25 to AVP of Research and limited-submission coordinator Satyen Kumar ([email protected]) that includes the following:

  • A concise summary of your research focus within the chemical sciences and its significance.
  • Your approach to integrating research with education and how you support student development.
  • An explanation of how your work demonstrates originality and leadership potential in advancing chemical knowledge.
  • Indicate how you would strategically apply the $100,000 prize to enhance your research and educational impact.

The selected applicant will work with the Office of Sponsored Programs on the application, which is due February 3, 2026 (all information to OSP by 1-26-26, which is five business days before deadline.
