The Research Foundation for The State University of New York has awarded Rockefeller College’s co-directors of the Project on State and Local Government Finance (SLGF) Donald J. Boyd and Gang Chen a grant for their project, “California Public Pension Plan Policy Analysis.”

Almost 40 percent of adults in the United States are obese — and local health departments can play a key role in reducing this statistic. Recent research from alumna Wenhui Feng, PhD ’19, supervised by Associate Professor Erika Martin, assesses the obesity policy involvement among local health departments across the United States and the factors associated with increased involvement.

Rockefeller Breaks Into Nation’s Top 20
The University at Albany’s Rockefeller College of Public Affairs & Policy has once again been recognized as one of the nation’s top graduate programs for public affairs. Announced by U.S. News & World Report, Rockefeller moved up two places from last year to 19th in the nation overall in the rankings for the 2021 Best Graduate Public Affairs Programs.

Rockefeller to Serve as Host Site for Global Simulation Competition
On Saturday, March 7th, Rockefeller College will host 50 graduate students from 15 universities participating in the 2020 NASPAA-Batten Student Simulation Competition. This year’s competition will connect approximately 400 students from eight global host sites. Participants in the competition will take on leadership roles in a simulated city and implement policies that achieve the most sustainable public transit system.
Faculty Q&A: Brian Greenhill
Brian Greenhill is an associate professor and vice chair of Rockefeller College’s Department of Political Science. Born and raised in Glasgow, Scotland, he studies intergovernmental organizations, and is working on a new research project that addresses the question of how these organizations can influence public opinion on critical issues such as climate change or human rights violations.
