What past awardees have said…
“As a part-time doctoral student working as a full-time social worker as well as managing a private practice (not to mention meeting the demands of parenthood), I am deeply appreciative of every contribution to the process of completing my program. The School of Social Welfare has been such a crucial entity in terms of my development as a social worker and as a person, and this scholarship is just another example of the generosity and support I’ve encountered here. I am enormously grateful.” – Stephen Oby, Doctoral Candidate
"Receiving the Nola R. Hooper Scholarship is going to help me achieve my immediate post-graduation goal which is to take my licensing exam and become a Licensed Social Worker. The money I am receiving from this scholarship is money I can spend on any study material, preparation classes and the exam itself. I am grateful to have been chosen as the recipient for this award and am looking forward to furthering my career in Social Work." – Vanessa Vaccarino, MSW Student
“As a non-traditional student who has worked full-time throughout my academic career, the scholarship I received was not only a welcome recognition of the hard work I have put in over the years, but also a financial relief. I am proud to be entering the social work field, even with the knowledge that the pay rate is not the highest compared to other professions. I am so grateful to those who have made these scholarships possible to provide me and students like me with some relief in paying back loans.” – Jessica Rodgers, MSW Student
