About the Speaker

Dr. Kapadia is an assistant professor of medicine at Weill Cornell Medicine. He completed his medical training and residency at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School, and then completed an ID Fellowship and a residency in Public Health and Preventive Medicine at Weill Cornell. He joined the faculty at Weill Cornell in 2017 with a joint appointment in Infectious Diseases and in Population Health Sciences. He conducts health services research at the intersection of substance use disorder, HIV, and hepatitis C, and he has published extensively about the transformation of hepatitis C care delivery in the United States since the introduction of direct acting antivirals.

Learning objectives

By the end of this presentation, participants will be able to:

1. Understand the changing availability of hepatitis C treatment providers in New York State.

2. Examine simplified frameworks for hepatitis C treatment in non-specialist settings.

3. Show evidence that hepatitis C treatment by non-specialists is similarly effective to treatment by specialists.
