Hurricane experts from NOAA and the U.S. Air Force are visiting five East Coast locations this week to raise awareness about the importance of being prepared for hurricane events.

Twelve members of the UAlbany community, including 11 alumni and a long-time staff member, were honored at the Alumni Association’s annual Excellence Awards Gala.

UAlbany held its second annual Showcase Day, which celebrates academic excellence, on Tuesday, April 30, 2024. The day-long event featured poster fairs, performances, discussions, demonstrations and exhibitions that reflected new and original exploration of topics in STEM, arts and humanities, social sciences and the professions.

Spend the day at the University’s second annual Showcase all around the Uptown Campus, including the Lecture Centers, Campus Center, libraries, University Art Museum, ETEC, the Performing Arts Center and podium academic buildings.

Alexis Weber has earned many titles during her time at UAlbany. The fifth-year PhD student from Jacksonville, Fla., recently added 3-Minute Thesis winner to her list of accolades, which also includes being selected for the 2024 Chancellor’s Award for Student Excellence.

The annual Terra Awards, which honor students, faculty and staff who have demonstrated a commitment to sustainability on campus, were handed out Monday in the sun-filled atrium of the Science Library.

NASA's Nationwide Eclipse Ballooning Project, which included 53 student teams, took advantage of the April 8 total solar eclipse, launching weather balloons from locations on the totality path across the U.S. to collect and analyze atmospheric data.
