About

Tara Autovino, overcoming early challenges as a teen mom and community college dropout, has spent her career between film, music, dance, and academia. Earning a philosophy degree from Hunter College and an MFA from NYU's Grad Film Program as a Dean's Fellow, her documentary and narrative films have been featured at Sundance, SXSW, and New Orleans film festivals, and her work has led to NYFA, Berlinale Talent, and Tribeca All-Access fellowships.

A multifaceted artist, she has collaborated with notable figures and groups across various artistic domains, including performances at the Whitney Biennial with the Stanley Love Performance Group and contributions to projects for Dave Chappelle and the Bernie Sanders 2016 presidential campaign. Currently, Tara is focusing on a documentary about the late NYC dance icon Stanley Love, while pursuing a Ph.D. in Political Philosophy and Applied Ethics at the University at Albany, and working in national politics. She is a lifelong New York State resident and is thrilled to be part of the U Albany community.
